Recorder!!!

This week, our 4th graders are starting to play their very first recorder song!

They will each receive their very own recorder book (that they are more than welcome to write in, decorate, etc.). They should remember to bring their recorder and recorder book to every music class.

Right now we are working on the song "It's in the BAG."

We've talked about some Independent Practice Steps they can use when practicing at home.

They are:

Recorder Independent Practice Steps
1. Remove mouthpiece from recorder
2. Speak rhythm only (using ti-ti, ta, sh, etc.)
3. Speak note names (letters) in rhythm (write in letters above notes, if needed)
4. Speak note names while practicing finger positions
5. Isolate most difficult sections and repeat slowly with the correct finger positions
6. Place mouthpiece back on recorder and play through entire song, remembering to use “too-too-too”
