Hello Park Sharks!
We are back in the swing of things and WOW do we have a lot going on in music!
Mostly notably, 5th and 6th grade are preparing for what is a FALL musical revue this year which will be performed on November 13th and 14th!
Fourth graders will begin recorder next week and have started to receive their very own recorders (to keep!).
Third grade has been working on trying to navigate playing, singing, chanting or clapping with more than on part performing at a time. They've also been reviewing rhythms from last year and we are learning a new type of note soon that takes up 4 whole beats!
Second grade showed impressive focus with our SLO Pre-Test and I learned a lot about what they already know and which areas of knowledge we will work on improving this year. They are learning some new games (including a song that includes jumping rope!) that will lead into some key concepts for this year.
First Grade and Kindergarten are thinking about music opposites and using games and animal icons to identify opposites such as 'fast' and 'slow'.
